Fundraising is carried out by members and their friends with a view to raising money which is to be used in our local community ie. Lancaster, Morecambe and District, for the benefit of people with heart related problems. The purchase of essential equipment for the Coronary Care Unit at the Lancaster Royal Infirmary is also a high priority, this enables the Staff in the CCU to have additional equipment available, thereby giving the patients a better chance of recovery after their stay.
Fundraising takes the form of sponsored events, store collections, the sale of hand made goods and coffee mornings.
Recently we have also provided materials and equipment for the Community Heart Failure Team, based at Rosebank Surgery and to the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team who both work with patients in the community. This means that Heart Concern funds are reaching a wider range of cardiac patients than just those who are receiving treatment in hospital.
In addition to supporting the various NHS cardiac services in the area we also subsidise some of the activities that we provide for our members.
